As we travel our life paths as creative folks, we often come upon obstacles that get in our way – making art feel out of reach, tiresome, or not relevant. Ironically, it is these times where reaching out, connecting with other artists and creative folks can be most helpful. You’ll find that there are others in the same space, and through your connection – you’ll fine rejuvenation!
When I’m feeling blue, unable to create, blocked and shut down, I have a few resources I pull from that help give me a lift, help me refocus my energy and that give me a sense of hope. Over the next few months I’ll be sharing things I find that help me in my creative path, and I’ll post them here.
To start things off here is a link to of my favorite helpful book resources, a “bible for artist” if you will:
Walking in The World – The Practical Art of Creativity – Julia Cameron.
“You must not for one instant give up the effort to build new lives for yourselves. Creativity means to push open the heavy, groaning doorway to life. This is not an easy struggle. Indeed, it may be the most difficult task in the world, for opening”
Daisaku Ikeda quotes (Japanese peace Activist and Buddhist Leader of Buddhist organization Soka Gakkai International, b.1928)
